Indigo and the winning “Capture Team”.

Indigo are thrilled to announce that, for the third successive year, we are a proud sponsor of the Environment YES (Young Entrepreneurs Scheme) competition, organised and funded by The Natural Environment Research Council (www.nerc.ac.uk).  This innovative scheme raises levels of entrepreneurial awareness amongst PhD students and post doctoral researchers working in the environmental sciences.

Environment YES is run as a competition in the form of a 3-day workshop with training provided to participants.  Teams are chosen and they develop a fictional, creative business idea to plan, develop and present.  Winning teams from each regional workshop progressed through to a London final this week, to face a Dragons Den style panel of venture capitalists and pitch their business case.

The winning Environment Yes team, pictured here with Indigo’s sponsors Robert Fisher and Adam Prothero, created the idea for an innovative new Carbon filtering system that could be easily fitted to car exhausts.  As winners, the team receive complimentary Indigo workshops.

Indigo’s Managing Director, Robert Fisher, commented “we are delighted to fund the development of one of the UK’s most precious assets – our home grown scientists!  This programme strengthens that all important link between scientific know-how and commercial acumen – vital for these talented teams and their careers.”

Past winners have found our Lateral Thinking, Think on Your Feet® and Project Management Survival Guide™ of particular interest.
